‘Say Yes’ scholars receive dorm survival kits

Some of UB’s “Say Yes” scholarship recipients received some welcomed gear for their dorm rooms on Monday, thanks to a donation program organized by the office of state Sen. Tim Kennedy.

Kennedy’s office gathered donations from the community of such items as laundry supplies, bedding and linens, school supplies and toiletries for UB students attending the university on scholarships funded by “Say Yes to Education Buffalo.”

The dorm room survival kits were distributed to about 50 students receiving “Say Yes” opportunity grants Monday morning in Capen Hall.

“Say Yes to Education Buffalo” provides a variety of scholarships to eligible graduates of Buffalo public and charter schools attending SUNY and CUNY institutions, and more than 90 private colleges and universities.

Approximately 300 “Say Yes” scholarship recipients currently are enrolled at UB
