The Division of Athletics has announced plans to install a new playing surface in UB Stadium.

The new playing surface will be made of A-Turf Titan, the industry’s ultimate synthetic surfacing system and the same field surface used by the Buffalo Bills in Ralph Wilson Stadium. Titan also has the industry’s best safety rating.

Construction is scheduled to begin this month to replace the previous turf that was installed in 2005 and had become unplayable due to wear and tear, and the efffects of the particularly harsh winter. The new field will be completed in August in time for Bulls’ football and the men’s and women’s soccer seasons.

Similar to the floor in Alumni Arena, the field design will feature the name of the university and an outline of the State of New York at midfield. The end zones will be royal blue with the word “Bulls” in white letters outlined in gray. The interlocking UB, as well as the Mid-American Conference shield, will be featured on the 25-yard lines.

“We are always working to provide the best for our student-athletes,” says Danny White, director of athletics. “Not only will our teams be playing on one of the industry’s top synthetic surfaces, but the bold design will serve as a reminder of UB’s status as the largest and most comprehensive public research institution in the State of New York.”
