Open workshops will be held next week to gather input from community members about transportation needs in the Buffalo-Amherst corridor.

The Transit Options Amherst-Buffalo workshops will be held on Nov. 19 in St. Leo the Great School, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, and on Nov. 20 in 100 Allen Hall on the UB South Campus. Workshops at both locations will begin at 5 p.m., with presentations at 5:30 and 7 p.m.

The workshops, sponsored by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority and Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transit Council, are designed to gather ideas and generate open discussion about transportation needs in the corridor. Organizers say these options could include improvements to current bus service, bus rapid transit or an extension of Metro Rail service.

Members of the UB community in particular are invited to participate, as the UB 2020 strategic plan calls for “broadening the options for transportation to, from and between our (three) campuses.”
