Karina Davidson, an internationally known researcher on the connection between depression and heart disease, will give the 2013 Golden lecture at noon on Sept. 12 in Butler Auditorium, 150 Farber Hall, South Campus.  

Titled “Depression and Acute Coronary Syndromes: Can Treating Depression Alter the Course of Coronary Artery Disease?” the talk is geared toward UB faculty and students, especially those in the health sciences.

Professor of medicine and psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center and director of its Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health, Davidson studies how patients’ mental well-being affects their cardiovascular disease. She received international recognition following her 2010 publication “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” a 10-year study on positive and negative emotions in coronary heart disease.
