The Department of Theatre & Dance Department will kick off the 40th anniversary year of the Zodiaque Dance Company with “CELEBRATION 40,” the company’s fall concert, Nov. 13-17 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. A special Gala Concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday featuring a pre-show performance by Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble and the presentation of Zodiaque Distinguished Awards and Zodiaque Directors’ Awards.

“CELEBRATION 40” is a featured event of the College of Arts and Sciences’ centennial celebration.

The concert includes an awe-inspiring array of diversified choreography performed by current UB dancers and UB alumni. The company exhibits a tremendous range of styles and repertory, and fosters tradition, while continuing to encourage the creation of new works by faculty, students, alumni and guest choreographers.

The concert features work choreographed by UB dance faculty members Tressa Gorman Crehan, Kerry Ring, Shelley Hain, Joyce Miller Lichtenberger and Tracy Navarro, and UB alumni Rebecca Guile-Wind, Jon Lehrer, Anne Beck and Roberto Villanueva. Zodiaque’s signature bow is staged by director Tom Ralabate. Guest alumni lighting designers are James Hergenroder and Carlie Todoro-Rickus.

The gala concert on Saturday features a one-night-only performance of alumni awardees Roberto Villanueva and Jenny LaRoche, and alumnus Matt Pardo. Other honorees include Tressa Gorman Crehan, Rebecca Guile-Wind, Shelley Hain, Lynne Kurdziel Formato, Jenny LaRoche, Joyce Miller Lichtenberger, Donna Massimo, Tracy Navarro and First Niagara Bank.

The gala will conclude with a reception for Zodiaque alumni, friends and guests in the Center for the Arts atrium.
