Professional Summary:

My research agenda is to improve the delivery of care to patients with multiple chronic diseases and to reduce the health disparities that are experienced in doing so using community-based participatory research. I partner with primary care practices and their patients to design and implement our research. My team employs a mixed method approach that is founded on epidemiology and qualitative analysis to measures important outcomes within the context of individuals personal experiences.
The Patient Voices Network, a community of educated informed patients working hand in hand with their doctors to make decisions about their own health care, is an integral part of my team. Together we have improved the quality of care in safety-net practices, trained residents, conducted research, and educated the community about the importance of preventive care. We strive to define patient-centeredness within the medical home.
With 20 years community-based experience, I have a network of partners throughout WNY. We have worked together to build programs, conduct community education, and evaluate community programs. I serve as a liaison between the community and the University to build partnerships between researchers and community partners. My goal is to build capacity to conduct T3 and T4 translational research within UB and throughout WNY.
