Introduction
Resources
In order to properly develop and implement the Comprehensive Physical Plan, it is important to gather relevant data from other universities that will be helpful in identifying the goals, purposes and impacts of the plan. Though the University at Buffalo is a distinct institution with a unique environment, there are lessons to be learned from the planning principles of its many peers who have taken steps to greater establish themselves in the arena of higher education. The following examines a number of fellow Association of American University members that have adopted campus master plans, as well as some other notable non-AAU campuses. While all are different in size, character, location and circumstance, there are many underlying themes that coincide with the preliminary objectives of the University at Buffalo's plan. Therefore, in the future we will be able to focus our attention towards those universities most relevant to the circumstances surrounding the growth of UB.
In addition, we will look at some published articles that have previously examined the relationship between the university campus and its adjacent communities, a subject that is extremely important to the implementation of a campus master plan.
