Enhance IT support for innovation in instruction &research
Coordinate & expand IT research computing support, including infrastructure and support staff:
- Fully engage in national research networking initiatives by participating in National Lambda Rail, GENI
- Enable large multi-investigator, multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary collaborative research
- Provide simulation, modeling, visualization, data mining and analysis tools
- Increase IT technical support for research
- Enterprise storage network to support large data repositories for research
- Provide infrastructure to enhance competitiveness
- Provide award management tools
- Provide tools for regulatory compliance
Enhance innovation in instructional computing support:
- Standardize basic classroom technology to provide consistency of equipment, interface, software
- Convert all classrooms to technology classrooms
- Implement a refresh cycle for technology classroom equipment
- Establish mechanisms to share, coordinate, and foster adoption of innovative approaches to teaching
- Provide budget for local IT support staff to foster innovative projects
- Standardize basic services in computer labs while protecting necessary discipline specific diversity
- Explore &adopt alternative models for labs and classrooms (e.g., create infrastructure to support virtual laboratories)
