About IT Strategic Transformation
Objectives
- Examine existing organizational structures, processes, systems, and resources presently used to deliver IT services across the campus
- Develop a clearly articulated set of campus IT priorities and strategies that are connected to campus strategic goals and priorities
- Develop a rational and unified service delivery model that improves the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the services delivered
- Define a governance structure and process for all IT resources across the campus that allows for a more standard and effective utilization of the resources, regardless of ownership or direct control
- Develop a funding strategy for IT infrastructure and the components fo the service delivery model
- Create a technology investment roadmap
- Address critical deficiencies that arise as a result of a lack of common standards and management of common IT systems (phones, email, etc.) across the campus
Deliverables
- A set of guiding principles for the delivery of campus-wide IT services
- Definition of Service Families, Groups, and Names for Information Technology
- An inventory of IT personnel, hardware, applications, costs, and space
- A matrix connecting campus priorities to their IT priority counterparts
- A set of IT strategic objectives to achieve the campus priorities
- A service delivery model for IT services to the UB campus
- A governance structure for IT resources that ensure that campus constituent desires are understood, that campus priorities are met, and that an environment favoring continuous improvement exists
- A preliminary technology investment plan for campus systems - specifying systems, expected costs, and implementation time frames
- A white paper documenting the preliminary funding strategy and allocation method for the service delivery model and IT investments
- An initial cost/benefit analysis of the planned changes
