Background and Charge
Background
As UB transitions into the next phase of its strategic planning effort — UB 2020 — it has become clear that the university’s strategic goals will only be obtained with a high performing and motivated workforce.
The foundation for attracting, creating and sustaining a high performing organization is a competent HR organization delivering highly valued programs and services, effectively and efficiently.
Today’s HR services at UB are varied:
- There are many talented HR professionals delivering highly efficient and highly valued services
- Campus customers have raised concerns about the consistency of HR services and the lack of common systems, structures and process that would make basic HR services simpler, seamless, and or more value.
As the campus prepares for and embraces change initiatives associated with UB 2020, an effective HR organization equipped to lead the campus through varying stages of change is critical.
Charge
The HR Transformation Task Force was charged with the following:
- Conduct a careful and thorough examination of the existing organizational structures, processes, systems, programs, and resources presently used to deliver HR services across the campus.
- Identify a comprehensive set of opportunities for improving existing delivery methods, processes, systems, programs and structures.
- Develop a new service delivery model that improves both the quality and efficiency of current HR services.
