Building UB: Our Physical Plan

William Greiner Hall

Architectural rendering of William Greiner Hall

This new suite-style residence hall accommodates 600 students and integrates features of UB’s emerging "learning landscape."

Construction is now complete at the new William R. Greiner Residence Hall, a suite-style building just south of the Ellicott Complex that accommodates up to 600 student residents. The $57 million, 198,500-square-foot project was designed to enhance the student experience by blending residential, academic and recreational spaces in a “learning landscape.” The first floor features classrooms, study spaces and a Market Café, along with an interior walkway that begins to create a weather-protected pedestrian route between the Ellicott Complex and the Academic Spine. The building was designed to qualify for LEED gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). It is named in honor of the late William Greiner, UB’s13th president.
