Following the migration of the School of Pharmacy to South
Campus, space will be renovated to meet growing demands in basic
sciences.
Planning is under way for a major renovation of the
Cooke-Hochstetter complex, as the School of Pharmacy and
Pharmaceutical Sciences prepares to move to its new home in John
and Editha Kapoor Hall on South Campus in 2012. Renovation of the
vacated space will allow for consolidation of the departments of
Biological Sciences and Geology in Cooke and Hochstetter Halls, and
the Department of Chemistry in the Natural Sciences Complex.
Project budget and schedule are in development, but the scope of
work will be inclusive, with new heating, cooling and ventilation,
lighting and electrical, architecture and finishes, to provide
state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms and “learning
landscape” spaces. The renovation will also provide a home
for the new major in environmental
geosciences.
