Building UB: Our Physical Plan

Capital Projects

Implementation of the physical plan is already underway with more than $500 million in projects under construction.

Building UB: the Comprehensive Physical Plan remains the campus plan for the University at Buffalo – despite state budgetary problems and failure of the state Legislature to support policy reforms sought by UB and the State University of New York.

Its principles and projects continue to guide our ongoing efforts to transform our campuses into sustainable, beautiful, lovable places that can help us achieve our aspirations for academic excellence. Some of the projects like new buildings for the engineering and pharmacy schools and the Educational Opportunity Center are funded by “strategic initiatives” with funds that were in place when the plan was created.Others, like the restoration of Hayes and Crosby halls, will be funded by “critical maintenance” funding intended to reduce the backlog of deferred reinvestment on UB campuses.
