Startup making clothing for visually impaired getting noticed

As reported by the Buffalo News, Aille Design (pronounced "eye")—a Cultivator startup that designs fashion-forward clothing and accessories with fully legible braille beadwork—is making its mark in the fashion industry.

Founded in 2020, designer and founder Alexa Jovanovic focuses on creating clothing that is not just functional, but also beautiful, while also helping to break the stigma that visually impaired people do not care about the way they look and dress.

The startup, recently featured as a clue on Celebrity Jeopardy, has been garnering lots of attention in the last few months. Aille Design was a nominee in the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards for the Fashion Impact Award, and visually impaired actress and writer Mared Jarman wore an Aille Design braille dress to the British Academy Film Awards.
