Transportation Systems Engineering
The Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental
Engineering (CSEE) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites
applications for a faculty position at all ranks (Assistant,
Associate, Full) in transportation systems engineering, starting in
Applicants must demonstrate a creative vision for original research with expertise in one or more of the following areas: systems modeling, transportation analytics, and the use of big data to address challenges in mobility, safety, sustainability and resilience in multimodal transportation systems. The successful candidate will support departmental growth in transportation engineering, and may, dependent on rank, be part of the leadership teams for the newly established Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics (ISTL) at the University, which is a joint initiative of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the School of Management, and the Tier I Transportation Informatics University Transportation Center (TransInfo UTC). He/she will be expected to (1) develop an externally funded and internationally recognized research program; (2) supervise graduate students; (3) teach undergraduate and graduate classes in CSEE; (4) work across disciplinary boundaries; and (5) serve the Department, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the University.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a computational and/or experimental research program, and will have opportunities to work with MCEER (www.mceer.buffalo.edu), the Institute for Bridge Engineering, the UB Center for Computational Research (www.ccr.buffalo.edu), New York State Center for Engineering Design and Industrial Innovation, and other campus-wide initiatives such as ISTL (http://www.buffalo.edu/istl.html), TransInfo (http://www.buffalo.edu/transinfo.html), and some of the emerging UB wide Communities of Excellence (CoE).
