Application Requirements for Graduate Students

Now that you have selected one of our top-notch programs, we invite you to apply and see for yourself how rewarding and affordable your educational journey can be.

Follow the easy steps below to complete the application process:

Step One: Select your Online Application

Select your application, complete all sections, and submit electronically.

Step Two: Gather your Transcripts

Upload unofficial transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions attended.*  Applicants who are currently enrolled, have studied at, or graduated from UB do not need to request an official UB transcript. GSE's Office of Admissions will download and print the transcript for you.  You will be asked to upload your documents within the application.

Note to all applicants: Please be sure to provide us with your former/maiden name if you have one. When requesting transcripts, please ask the sending institution to indicate your current name and former/maiden name.

Step Three: Review Program Specific Requirements

Program specific requirements:  Check your specific degree program to see if there are additional requirements.

Recommendation Letters:

If your program requires letters of recommendation, you will be asked to provide contact information about each individual providing a recommendation. Please note that your recommenders will receive the electronic request to provide a recommendation letter only after you "formally submit" the application.

Step Four: Pay the Application Fee

Submit a non-refundable $50.00 (U.S. Dollars) application fee either electronically, check, or money order. If you pay by check or money order, please make the check payable to "University at Buffalo" and indicate on the check/money order the name of the GSE program that you are applyng to.

Once you have completed and submitted your online application, a member of the graduate admission's staff will review your file to confirm that any/all supporting documents are included. As soon as your application file is complete, it will go to your Program Director for review.
