The next deadline for project and conference funding applications is Wed., October 2, 2019.

What You Should Know Before Getting Started

1. Confirm your eligibility for project and conference funding (see below).

2. Preview the form and gather information prior to starting your submission.

3. Review the proposal evaluation criteria.

Funding applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Completed application: All necessary sections are included and in order according to application packet. Sections requiring signatures are signed prior to the application deadline.
  • Quality of writing: Well-written with very few, if any, errors. Strong evidence of proofreading. (Center for Excellence in Writing is available to support the development of your application.)
  • Writing style: Writing style is professional, but comprehensible for audiences outside of the project field.
  • Project description: The project description is well-composed, professional, and demonstrates sufficient research and preparation by the student. 
  • Broader impacts: Broader impacts clearly describe how project will both enhance student learning and bring new information to the field.
  • Timeline: Timeline is clear, detailed, and provides reasonable deadlines for accomplishing goals within the project.
  • Budget outline: Budget is itemized with links or catalogue numbers for specific items. There is a well-researched explanation of why each individual budget item is necessary to the project.

4. Ensure you submit the appropriate signature form to finalize your application.

  • Your funding application will not be complete until you submit the appropriate signature form (available for download below).
  • After submitting your application, print the funding form below and submit a scanned copy via email to or in person at 24 Capen Hall by the funding deadline. 

5. Funding Timeline

  • After the funding deadline, the ELN staff will review all applications and email you directly with a funding decision. This can take between 1-3 weeks, depending on the volume of submissions.
  • After funding decisions are announced, the transfer of funds may take several weeks.

Signature forms must be scanned and submitted via email to or dropped off in 24 Capen Hall no later than 4:00 p.m. on the day of the funding deadline.


For each academic term, online applications for funding are due on or before the following dates no later than 4:00 p.m. 
  • Fall 2019: October 2, 2019
  • Winter 2019: November 6, 2019
  • Spring 2020: February 19, 2020
  • Summer 2020: April 1, 2020

Individuals and Groups

  • Both individual students and groups of students can use the funding applications below.
  • Maximum funding amounts for projects and conferences are:
    • $500 for individuals
    • $750 for groups

Project Funding

To be eligible for project funding, you must complete the Project Preparation Digital Badge for your specific project. 

Conference Funding

To be eligible for conference funding, you must complete the Project Reflection Digital Badge. 

If you start a funding application form and need to stop for any reason, you can click "Save and Resume Later" to generate a unique link. You can use that link anytime within 30 days to complete your submission.
