Advancing research discoveries to improve health for all
Plagiarism constitutes a major ethical breach in the publishing arena, and is one of three key elements of the definition of research misconduct (the other two being falsification and fabrication of data). This workshop session will cover the definition, forms, and scope of plagiarism, will highlight some egregious cases of plagiarism, and will provide some tools for detecting, dealing with, and avoiding plagiarism. In addition, ethical guidelines and responsibilities pertaining to reviewers (re: manuscripts, grant applications, and other privileged communications) will be presented. Case discussions will be presented to highlight the lecture content.
