The University at Buffalo Clinical Research Office is sharing updates on industry-sponsored clinical research agreements.
Oversight and transition:
- Conor Flynn, Director of Research Administration for the Jacobs School Office of Research, is now overseeing industry-sponsored clinical research agreements.
- A transition from Technology Transfer and an unfilled position caused a temporary delay in contracts processing from June to late October.
Full staffing and introduction of the contracts team:
- The contracts team is now fully staffed to efficiently manage industry-sponsored clinical research agreements. The team consists of:
- Conor Flynn, Director of Research Administration
- Ryan McAnany, Contracts Manager (formerly with Technology Transfer)

- The WIRB-Copernicus Group (WCG), a leading provider of regulatory and ethical review services for clinical research, is also assisting where necessary.
Exciting milestone: SUNY-wide Master Clinical Trial Agreements:
- After four years of negotiations, UB has successfully led the completion of the SUNY-wide Master Clinical Trial Agreement (MCTA) with Abbvie.
- This master agreement applies to all SUNY campuses conducting clinical research.
Key highlights of MCTAs:
- Pre-negotiated terms with industry sponsors, like Abbvie, significantly reduce contract cycle time, from 3-4 months to just a couple of days.
- UB's growing list of SUNY-wide MCTAs includes agreements with industry leaders, fostering growth in our clinical research operation.
