Erin Bailey, MSM, chief financial officer, Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) was recently presented with the Distinguished Service Award by National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) at its Region II annual meeting.

The award recognizes NCURA members who have made “sustained and distinctive contributions to the organization.”

Bailey has worked in University at Buffalo research administration since 1996 (Research Institute on Additions; School of Social Work; and Department of Family Medicine, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences). Since 2015, as CFO for the CTSI, she has been responsible for administrative oversight of both pre-award and post-award activities for the multi-year, $15 million CTSA grant to the University at Buffalo.

Nominated by Timothy Schailey, MS, director, research administration, Thomas Jefferson University, Bailey was acknowledged for “determination, hard work and effectiveness” in teaching, mentoring and organizational leadership roles for NCURA and her “long-standing commitment to research administration.”

SUNY Distinguished Professor and CTSI director, Timothy Murphy, MD, said, “This is a well-deserved honor that brings national recognition to UB and the CTSI. Erin uses her vast fund of knowledge of research and her experience to enable our team to make the most of our funds. She takes a ‘problem-solving’ approach with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with complex regulations.”

Bailey will be recognized again at the NCURA annual meeting in August.
