As faculty and staff members, we improve the UB student experience not only with our expertise in our fields, but also by sharing our time and talents. Now—through the UB Faculty Staff Campaign—we have another way to show that we believe in the mission of the university, in the work we do and in the students we educate.
This is our university. Our future. Our campaign. And our support directly enhances the quality of our programs. The best part? We have the opportunity to direct our gifts to the college, area or program that means the most to you.
Whatever the reason and whatever the designation, faculty and staff gifts to our university speak volumes about UB as a place for philanthropic investment and show pride in our institution.
Dear fellow faculty and staff,
We are thrilled to be the 2021-2022 co-chairs for the UB Faculty Staff Campaign and ask you to join in making your annual gift to UB today.
Last year almost 1,700 UB faculty and staff made gifts to the university, supporting over 600 different funds. This level of support shows that we are passionate about the role UB plays in our lives, both professionally and personally. It also shows how committed we are to making a difference at UB and for our students.
This year I hope you will join us and help meet our goal of 2,000 donors. Remember, it’s participation that counts, and every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. The success of this year’s campaign will not be possible without your financial support.
By participating in the UB Faculty Staff Campaign, you show your UB pride and send a bold message to our alumni and friends that you believe in UB’s future.
Thank you for joining in making this year’s campaign the best yet!

I can’t imagine what path my life would have taken without the generosity of others. Scholarships opened countless doors for me as a student at UB. Now as an alum and staff member at the university, I give to help create similar opportunities for future students. -Marcene Robinson, BA '13

Q: What is the UB Faculty Staff Campaign?
A: It’s a fundraising campaign for faculty and staff to support UB, which encourages others to do the same. Campus support for UB will help us leverage greater external giving.
Q: Why is faculty and staff giving so important to UB?
A: Gifts from faculty and staff show that support starts at “home.” This is our university and our future. Your support helps fund important initiatives at UB. These gifts signify your endorsement of the university, announcing to alumni, students, friends, corporations and foundations that UB is worthy of support.
Q: What are the goals of the Faculty and Staff Campaign?
We want to raise awareness about the importance of philanthropy at UB, help build community and foster positive attitudes toward philanthropy among UB employees; and increase annual giving participation by faculty and staff year after year. This year our goal is for 1,700 faculty and staff to participate and to raise $1 million.
Q: Why is private support so important to UB?
A: When faculty, staff, alumni and friends give to UB, they are helping to fund vital student initiatives that help UB students succeed.
Increased levels of philanthropy is important in national rankings; it helps UB retain its position among the nation’s top universities—and, most important, continue to serve its students.
Q: Is the Faculty and Staff Campaign part of the Boldly Buffalo Campaign?
A: Yes, your gift to the UB Faculty Staff Campaign is part of Boldly Buffalo, the largest campaign in UB’s history.
Q: I already give to the University SEFA campaign. Does my SEFA gift count?
A: No. The funds raised for the SEFA campaign, although important to our community, do not contribute directly to the university. We are glad and grateful that you support SEFA, but through the UB Faculty Staff campaign, we are asking you to support our students and our university directly.
Q: May I designate my gifts to a particular area?
A: Yes, you may designate your gift to any area of UB that is important to you, or to the UB Fund, which supports UB students.
Q: Is my gift confidential?
A: Rest assured that all information about UB donors is handled with respect and confidentiality to the extent provided by the law.
Q: I can only give a modest amount. How can that possibly make a difference?
A: Our goal is participation-that means every gift is important! The UB Faculty Staff Campaign shows the power of collective giving. Each of our gifts adds up to an incredible amount. Last year, faculty and staff contributed $855,000! But most importantly, faculty and staff donations demonstrate to other alumni and friends that we share their commitment to improving UB.
Q: Is my gift tax deductible?
A: Yes. Your gift is 100% tax deductible.
Q: What are my payment options?
A: You may give cash or by check, credit card, or payroll deduction. If you give by payroll deduction, the minimum is $1 per paycheck, and payments will begin within two pay cycles from when you submit your request. If you would like to consider a planned gift, an endowment gift, or a multi-year pledge, please contact 855-GIVE-2-UB (855-448-3282).
Q: If I signed up for payroll deduction last year, will it automatically renew?
A: It depends. Please call 855-GIVE-2-UB (855-448-3282) and a University Advancement staff member will determine if you provided an end-date to your payroll deduction pledge.
Q: Are there fees associated with contributions?
A: There is a one-time 5% administrative fee.
Q: I’ve already made an annual gift this year. Will it count toward the Faculty and Staff Campaign?
A: Yes, and we thank you very much for your contribution to UB. You may wish to consider making an additional contribution.
Q: How can I find out my giving history?
A: Contact 855-GIVE-2-UB (855-448-3282) and a University Advancement staff member can provide you with this information.
