Scott Weber, University at Buffalo provost, as he shares this vision – dissecting what factors drive the rankings, how alumni can play a role and the potential impact of achieving this goal. About A. Scott Weber
A. Scott Weber was named provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in January of 2020. As the university’s chief academic officer, he provides leadership across the academic enterprise including research, scholarship and creative activities. Dr. Weber began his tenure at UB in 1983 as a faculty member of the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. Prior to being named provost, Dr. Weber has held a number of administrative positions, including department chair, senior vice provost for academic affairs, and vice president for student life. An innovative scholar, teacher, and senior administrative leader at UB, Dr. Weber has spent more than 30 years enabling faculty to deliver impactful research and education and providing UB students with the academic programs, support, transformative extracurricular programs, and resources they need to thrive at the university and beyond.  

Dr. Weber received a BS and an MS from Virginia Tech and earned a PhD in civil engineering from the University of California-Davis.
