Mitchell Joachim, BPS '94
Mitchell Joachim, associate of the American Institute of Architects, is co-founder of Terreform ONE, a nonprofit architecture and urban design research group and professor of practice at NYU. Formerly with architects Frank Gehry and I.M. Pei, he has held fellowships with TED, Fulbright, the architect Moshe Safdie and MIT’s Martin Society for Sustainability. His honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Award, Time magazine’s Best Invention (with MIT Smart Cities), Fast Company’s Design of the Year, the LafargeHolcim Award and the Victor Papanek Social Design Award. Wired named him to The Smart List, and Rolling Stone called him one of the 100 People Who Are Changing America. His work has been exhibited at MoMA and the Venice Biennale. He is the co-author of Design with Life, XXL-XS, Super Cells and Global Design. In addition to his BPS degree, Mitchell holds a PhD from MIT, MAUD from Harvard and, an MArch from Columbia.
