Putting global warming on ice. A UBThisSummer lecture yesterday took on the timely topic of climate change in the Arctic.

Riding for 9/11. Two UB police officers are participating in the Tour de Force bike ride in memory of officers who gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Energy drinks linked to risk-taking. A researcher at UB’s Research Institute on Addictions has been investigating links between energy drinks and public health concerns like substance abuse and risky behaviors.

Flexing mental muscles. Some of Western New York’s best and brightest high school students proved their scientific and mathematical mettle in a brain-teasing race last week around the North Campus.

Reducing brain shunt infections. A new trial has shown that using antimicrobial sutures during surgery to implant brain shunts reduces the number of shunt infections.
