Commencement, alumni top itinerary

Capen Garden Walk set. The seventh annual Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk showcasing gardens in the neighborhoods adjacent to UB’s South Campus will be held July 19.

Buffalo graduates awarded scholarships. Three outstanding graduates of the Buffalo Public Schools have received full tuition scholarships to UB, thanks to a partnership between UB and the Buffalo schools.

Documenting our stories. The StoryCorps national oral history project will be in Buffalo, beginning July 17, for a six-week run.

Testing weight-loss program. A study conducted by UB pediatric researchers is testing the effectiveness of a weight-control program that involves the parent, child and family physician.

Hole in one. The work of UB architect Joyce Hwang is part of a nine-hole mini-golf course and participatory installation on Governors Island in Manhattan.

Gray brain drain. UB sociologist Debra Street told a UBThisSummer audience yesterday that there are two “brain drains” going on in Western New York.
