Text alerts set for emergencies

With the opening of the fall semester this week, UB has supplemented its crisis communication vehicles with a new text-messaging service designed to disseminate critical information in a timely manner to members of the university community. » Full Story

Moore to open speakers series. Controversial Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore will open the 21st season of UB's Distinguished Speakers Series for 2007-08.

Bicycling at UB. The university has launched Bicycling at UB, an initiative designed to improve bike riding to, from and across the three campuses.

See something, say something. The university has compiled a comprehensive list of resources available for consultation and referral when concerns arise about students, faculty or staff who may pose a threat to themselves or others.

Yeh named Jefferson Science Fellow. John Yeh, an internationally recognized reproductive endocrinologist and UB faculty member, is one of eight individuals selected to be a 2007-08 Jefferson Science Fellow.

The meaning of stories. Bruce Jackson's latest book explores the art of storytelling.

New music ensemble to visit UB. The New York New Music Ensemble will visit UB next month to take part in several activities for students and the public, including presenting the first concert of the Slee/Visiting Artist Series for 2007-08.

400 miles on the Erie Canal. Although she spends much of her time patrolling campus on a bicycle, UB Police Officer Amy Pedlow spent time this summer pedaling along the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany.

Supporting HD radio at UB. WBFO-FM 88.7 has received a grant from the New York State Music Fund in support of its new all-music, HD radio station—WBFO XPoNential—and the WBFO XPoNential Buffalo Music Project.

MCEER symposium in NYC. MCEER has co-organized a symposium on multi-hazard engineering that will be held next month in New York City.
