Songfest puts face on alumni

Flavonoids make OJ healthy drink. Despite its high caloric load of sugars, orange juice appears to be a healthy food for diabetics due to its mother lode of flavonoids, a study by UB endocrinologists has shown.

Malt liquor linked to pot use. A study by scientists at UB's Research Institute on Addictions has found that drinking malt liquor may put young adults at increased risk for alcohol problems and use of illicit drugs, particularly marijuana.

Findings of cross-border study released. UB's Regional Institute recently released results of its "Region's Edge" research initiative that recounts the interaction of residents, businesses and institutions on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border.

Predicting risk of pre-diabetes. The blood component cystatin C may be a very early marker for those at risk of developing a condition known as pre-diabetes, a study conducted by UB researchers has shown.

Learning about our northern neighbors. While the passport proposal has brought Canadian-American relations into the spotlight, many Americans know little about their neighbors to the north, UB faculty member Munroe Eagles said during yesterday's UBThisSummer lecture.
