UB honored for making strides for female student-athletes

UB has been recognized by the Women's Sports Foundation as one of four "standout" colleges and universities in the nation for making significant strides in providing equitable athletic opportunities for its female student-athletes. » Full Story

Funds increased for home loans

More UB faculty and staff members will be able to buy homes in the neighborhoods around the South Campus, thanks to a major, multimillion-dollar boost to the UB Home Loan Guaranty Program by the UB Foundation. » Full Story

Lund named SUNY Distinguished. Carl R.F. Lund, longtime faculty member in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, has been named a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor by the SUNY Board of Trustees.

Finding new uses for old tires. UB's Center for Integrated Waste Management has been awarded $1.8 million by Empire State Development to expand the use of recycled tires in construction applications through research and education.

Irish film festival. Cinegael Buffalo 2007, a festival presenting award-winning, independent Irish films co-sponsored by the UB Humanities Institute, will take place next week in the North Park Theatre and Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center.

Educating lab practitioners. An AxSYM immunoassay analyzer funded through a grant from Abbott Diagnostics will help UB train the next generation of clinical laboratory science practitioners with state-of-the-art skills and knowledge.
