Dean search moves forward. The national search for a dean for the School of Nursing has begun with the appointment of a search committee that includes several members of the Western New York nursing community.

Focus on information access. Library and Information Studies faculty member Jianqiang Wang is working to develop systems and techniques that can assist users' access to information across language and media boundaries.

"Diabetes clock" ticking for women. The "diabetes clock" may start ticking in women years in advance of a medical diagnosis of the disease, new UB research has shown.

Love blooms at ELI. A couple who fell in love 30 years ago while studying at UB's English Language Institute now have a daughter attending the university.

Targeting muscular dystrophy RNA. A UB medicinal chemist has identified compounds to target a ribonucleic acid (RNA) that causes a form of muscular dystrophy called myotonic dystrophy, or DM.

March concert lineup. The month of March will bring a variety of performances to the stages of Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall and Baird Recital Hall on UB's North Campus.

The gendered realm of the foye tree. Long-held assumptions about sexual identity and gendered behavior have been turned upside down by a groundbreaking new study by a UB anthropologist.

Grants assist pharmacy unit. Amgen, a company that has pioneered new treatments based on advances in recombinant DNA and molecular biology, has awarded three grants totaling $145,000 to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences for fellowships in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics research.

Update on Corrigan Committee. In what he called a "rehearsal" for two public meetings, UB Law School Dean Nils Olsen spoke to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee yesterday about the Corrigan Committee, which he chairs and which is working to determine the future of UB's intercollegiate athletics program.
