Emergency response to be studied

UB researchers have been awarded a $30,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the experiences of first and second emergency responders during Western New York's "October Surprise" snowstorm. » Full Story

Patient simulator to enhance training. A computerized patient simulator valued at $30,000 and designed to improve the training of medical students has been donated to the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences by faculty member Margaret W. Paroski and her husband, Peter Martin Sr.

Antibody extends life of mice with breast cancer. A monoclonal antibody developed by UB researchers has been shown to extend significantly the survival of mice with human breast-cancer tumors.

Kids' activity linked to motor abilities. Boys and girls who have better motor abilities are more physically active and less likely to be sedentary than children with poorer coordination, research conducted at UB has shown.

Diabetics with low testosterone may have anemia. Research by UB endocrinologists has shown that one-third of men with type 2 diabetes who have low testosterone concentrations are likely to have anemia due to two mechanisms that suppress the formation of red blood cells.
