Details of investiture ceremony set

Representatives of universities from around the world, UB alumni from graduating classes more than 50 years ago and current UB students will be among those participating on Oct. 15 in the ceremony in which John B. Simpson will be invested as UB's 14th president. » Full Story

Tripathi addresses Faculty Senate

Satish K. Tripathi, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, told the Faculty Senate on Tuesday that he believes UB can "become one of the world's great research universities" by continuing the academic planning process now under way, composing a set of guiding principles and constructing a campus master plan. » Full Story

Another honor for Ruckenstein. Eli Ruckenstein, SUNY Distinguished Professor and the first full-time professor in the SUNY system to be elected to the prestigious National Academy of Engineering, has been selected to receive the academy's Founders Award.

Wall of Gold. UB faculty member Jolene Rickard developed a spectacular "Wall of Gold" in the new National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Advancing discoveries in nanomedicine. A $925,000 grant to the Institute for Lasers, Photonics and Biophotonics from the John R. Oishei Foundation will help the institute move its nanomedicine program beyond the benchtop.

Simpson lauds professional staff. The involvement of the UB professional staff is critically important to the success of UB's strategic planning process, President John B. Simpson told members of the Professional Staff Senate at their recent membership meeting.

Donor wall to be dedicated. A granite donor wall honoring individuals, corporations and foundations that made leadership commitments to "The Campaign for UB: Generation to Generation" will be dedicated on the North Campus on Oct. 14.

Advice from "The Donald." "Think big," "be paranoid" and "get even" were just some of the pearls of wisdom real-estate guru Donald Trump offered to those attending his recent Distinguished Speakers Series lecture.

Construction update. A list highlighting some of the 273 projects of all types at various stages of planning, design or construction that are under way at UB.
