Scholarship to honor Greiner

Introducing Tripathi. A Web broadcast will be held on May 6 to introduce Satish Tripathi, who will become UB's provost on July 1, to members of the university community.

Spurring tinnitus research. A novel rat behavioral model of tinnitus that will allow researchers to study this debilitating condition in a manner never before possible and to test potential treatments has been developed by UB researchers.

Prestigious award. Hung Q. Ngo, an assistant professor of computer science and engineering, has received a prestigious Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation.

First book on nanophotonics. UB faculty member Paras Prasad has authored the first book to comprehensively cover nanophotonics.

WBFO thriving. Membership revenues for UB's National Public Radio affiliate grew 10 percent from 2002-03, the station's general manager told the FSEC yesterday.

"Friends" shows that youth rules. The sitcom "Friends," which is ending its 10-year run on TV next month, will be remembered as one of those rare shows that marked a change in American culture, according to a UB pop-culture expert.
