Simpson tells PSS he values teamwork

Recognized for outstanding research. Materials engineer Deborah D.L. Chung has been selected to receive the prestigious Charles E. Pettinos Award from the American Carbon Society.

Fungus linked to sinusitis. Researchers at UB and the Mayo Clinic have shown that chronic sinusitis is an immune disorder caused by fungus, opening up a promising new avenue for treating this condition.

Installations to open in Anderson Gallery. Two new installations by UB MFA students will open in the Anderson Gallery on April 8.

Bloch to receive Capen Award. Alumnus Erich Bloch will receive the UB Alumni Association's most prestigious award at the association's annual Celebration of Excellence Dinner on April 23.

Preparing grant proposals. Despite a late-winter snowstorm, more than 50 UB faculty and staff members recently received some insight into the fundamentals of getting grants to support projects during a workshop sponsored by Millard Fillmore College.

International applications decline. Applications to UB from international students are down about 43 percent from last year, and graduate programs have suffered the biggest hit, members of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee learned yesterday.
