The relationship between drinking and HIV/AIDS in women will be the focus of studies to be conducted under two federal grants totaling $3.1 million awarded to researchers at UB's Research Institute on Addictions. » Full Story

Scholarly communication to be topic of conference. The issues and concerns surrounding the ongoing electronic revolution in academic publishing and scholarly communication will be addressed at a conference to be held on Tuesday.

GIS aids in mapping illnesses. A new, computational method for simulating the spread of flu-like illnesses like SARS that is being developed by a UB geographer may provide new information for predicting the pattern of public-health threats in urban areas.

Zodiaque at 30. UB dance company strives for achievement, both in performance and in education.

Coming together for a friend. Students, athletes, friends and UB faculty and staff members will gather on Nov. 19 to raise money for a fund to benefit Kevin Pitra, a Graduate School of Education student and former captain of the men's soccer team who is battling melanoma.

War & Media. The relationship between war and the media as seen from a variety of perspectives will be the focus of an international conference to be held at UB Nov. 17 and 18.

Beautiful music. The Department of Music will open its concert schedule for November with back-to-back concerts this weekend.
