Ewing named Distinguished Professor. Charles Patrick Ewing, an internationally renowned forensic psychologist and professor of law at UB, has been appointed to the rank of Distinguished Service Professor by the SUNY Board of Trustees.

UB in D.C. A delegation of UB faculty, administrators and staff will head to Capitol Hill on Tuesday to update legislators about the UB Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and the university's School of Public Health and Health Professions.

Improving performance. As it wraps up its third year of operation, the Institute for Administrative Quality Improvement (IAQI) continues to focus its efforts on improving the quality of administrative functions, processes and services at UB.

UB grad named to key Korean government post. Huh Sung-kwan, who received an MBA and doctoral degree from UB, has been appointed head of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) of the Republic of Korea.

June in Buffalo. Renowned composers Philip Glass and Steve Reich will head the list of distinguished "Resident Artists" at this year's June in Buffalo festival.

Opposition to war spurs peace group. UB Faculty and Staff for Peace aims to provide a forum on campus for discussion of global issues.

Family affair. Three members of one Western New York family and two members of another received degrees during UB's commencement ceremonies last weekend.

Leaders in bioinformatics to travel to Buffalo. The UB Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics will sponsor a symposium in June on the cutting-edge science essential for advancements in the field.

Drug effective for RSV-related wheezing. UB infectious disease specialists have demonstrated a potentially effective treatment to prevent the frequently life-threatening complications that can develop in infants from infection with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

"Reinventing education." The Graduate School of Education will present a summer institute that will examine practical strategies for improving schools.
