UB forms school of Public Health

UB on Friday unveiled its School of Public Health and Health Professions, which will train public health and health professionals in an environment focused on wellness, disease prevention, and environmental and population issues. » Full Story

African Americans risk health by binge drinking. Binge drinking by African Americans appears to negate the protective health effects seen in most groups who consume moderate amounts of alcohol in general, UB researchers have found.

Cohen urges faculty to pursue community service. Former SAP Dean Harold Cohen spoke on the role and obligations of the university during a presentation to the Faculty Senate on Tuesday.

Drinking linked to partner abuse. Men who drink alcohol and have a predisposition for violence toward their female partners are more likely to be violent on the days they drink alcohol, according to a study conducted at UB's Research Institute on Addictions (RIA).

Globalization of universal culture unlikely. A UB study suggests that the tendency toward Internet dominance by the U.S., Canada and Western Europe may be changing as other regions cluster into mutual-interest groups.
