UB 68, Eastern Michigan 51
Ball State 59, UB 56
Junior forward Robert Brown scored 21 points and snared a career-high 16 rebounds to lead UB to a 68-51 win over Eastern Michigan on Feb. 12, snapping a 13-game losing streak and earning the Bulls their first Mid-American Conference win of the season.
UB slowly pulled away in the second half after trailing 24-23 at intermission. Brown led the way by scoring 15 of his points in the second half and dominating the glass. Brown had 16 rebounds, while the entire Eastern Michigan team pulled down just 22.
UB's win streak turned out to be short-lived, however. The Bulls saw another strong effort fall short as Ball State held off the Bulls, 59-56, Feb. 14 in Alumni Arena in another MAC game.
The Bulls (3-19, 1-12), who trailed by 10 points at halftime, went back and forth with the Cardinals, last season's MAC representative in the NCAA Tournament, as the lead changed hands four times in the final 12 minutes.
UB announced that the time of the game against Marshall scheduled for March 3 in Alumni Arena has been changed to 2 p.m. from 7 p.m. The time of the game-the men's final regular season game of the year-was changed because a women's tournament game likely will be scheduled for that evening.

Earlier in the week, The Bulls' three-game win streak was snapped with a 73-51 defeat at Kent State. The Golden Flashes extended the nation's longest active home winning streak to 42 games with the victory.

Junior Carrie Quinlan was named the MAC Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 13, the league announced.
Quinlan, a political science major, was instrumental in the Bulls' 154-144 win over Cornell on Feb. 10 to close the regular season. She swam the opening leg of the meet's final event, the 200 freestyle relay, as the squad took the race in a season-best time of 1:39.03. She also finished first in a pair of individual events-also in season-best times-winning the 50 freestyle in 24.81 and the 100 butterfly in 57.55. Quinlan's 100 butterfly time is the third best in the MAC this season. She also ranks 17th in the league in the 50 freestyle.
Quinlan becomes the second UB athlete to take the women's swim award. Teammate Abby Delia earned league honors last November.
The Bulls finished their regular season 9-5 overall and 3-5 in MAC meets. UB will host the MAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Alumni Arena Natatorium today through Saturday. Preliminary events will begin at 11 a.m. each day, with finals taking place at 7 p.m.
Indoor Track
The men's and women's track teams finished their regular seasons at the Cornell Kane Invitational. While there was no team scoring at the meet, the Bulls put together some impressive highlights.
Senior Sarah Fletcher provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships with her first-place finish in the 20-pound weight throw. Fletcher, who already had qualified for the ECAC championships in the event, established a new school record with her toss of 58-10 (17.93m). The throw broke her previous school record of 58-6.5 (17.84m) set at last season's Eastern Michigan Invitational. The NCAA championships will begin March 8 in Fayetteville, Ark.
For the fourth time this season, Biaunca McFarland set a new UB record in the triple jump. McFarland took the event with a leap of 40-5.5 (12.33m), becoming the first Bull to clear 40 feet.
Jenelle Callender also scored a victory in the 400-meters, winning in 58.10.
Kamau Halim led the UB men's squad, taking the long jump with a school record mark of 23-10 (7.24m). His jump broke the old record of 23-5.5 (7.15m) set in 1996 by Thom Kaye. Tory Smith finished third in the event for the Bulls at 23-0 (7.01m).
