Funeral services were held March 20 in Central Park United Methodist Church, Buffalo, for Neil Munro Goen, who served as an internal auditor and budget control officer during his 23 years of service at UB. Goen, 69, died March 17 in the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Cheektowaga after a long illness.

Goen A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Goen served in the Air Force from 1951-54. Before going to work for UB, he was an associate in the controller's office of Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Philadelphia. He joined UB in 1962 in the Office of Internal Audit, serving as budget control officer from 1963-80, when he took a leave of absence to be an adviser to the Philippines Ministry of Education and Culture in Manila. From 1981 until his retirement in 1985, he was an associate in the controller's office at UB.

Goen, who was active in numerous organizations and committees at UB, was a member of the Professional Staff Senate, serving as chair from 1984-85. He was a member of the SUNY Faculty Senate and the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers. He also was active in Toastmasters Club activities, serving as president of the CPA Toastmasters Club of Buffalo and as lieutenant governor for District 65 of Toastmasters International.
