Ferdinand A. Paolini, 74, emeritus clinical professor of medicine
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 19 in St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Eggertsville, for Ferdinand A. Paolini, 74, a physician who had a long association with the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Paolini, who retired in 1979 as emeritus clinical professor of medicine, died Feb. 16 in Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) after a long illness.
Paolini graduated from the UB medical school in 1947. After his residency in internal medicine at the former E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital, now ECMC, he served in the Army Medical Corps.
After his army service, he returned to ECMC and during his long tenure there served as director of clinics and ambulatory care, as well as president of the hospital's medical-dental staff.
At UB, in addition to his teaching duties, he served for many years as a member of the medical school's Admissions Committee.
After his retirement from UB, he became medical director of the Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence, where he was instrumental in establishing the facility as a major rehabilitation center.
