Women's swimmer freshman Carol Cottingham captured the 100 and 200 breaststroke, as well as the 200 IM, in a losing effort to Cornell on Jan. 31. Cottingham also played a part in UB winning the 400 IM in a school-record 3:56.47.
Senior Rasaun Young scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Bulls men's basketball team knocked off Southern Utah, 57-48, on Jan. 28.
Women's
UB 77, Southern Utah 73
The Bulls captured a tough road win Jan. 29 as they defeated Southern Utah, 77-73. UB had five players score in double figures, with fresh-man Tiffany Bell, junior Catherine Jacob and senior Charissa Gardner pitching in 12 apiece. Freshman Sonia Ortega contributed 11, while senior Latoya Crumpton scored 10.
Men's: UB 90, Canisius 50
Women's: UB 84.5, Canisius 50.5
The men's and women's indoor track and field teams swept Canisius on Jan. 30 in Alumni Arena. The UB men downed Canisius, 90-50, while the women won, 84.5-50.5. Senior Neil Murray was a double winner for the Bulls, capturing the 55-meter dash and the pole vault. Senior Katie Scott won the women's pole vault and the 400-meter dash. The Bulls' other double winner was senior Lisa Kragbe, who took the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

UB 141, Cornell 157
The women's swimming and diving team fell to Cornell University, 157-141, on Jan. 31 in Alumni Arena. UB was led by freshman Carol Cottingham, who captured the 100 and 200 breaststroke, as well as the 200 IM. Cottingham also combined with junior Liselle Trinidad, sophomore Inger Rooneem and freshman Kristen Zimmerman to win the 400 IM in a school-record 3:56.47. Rooneem also set an individual school record, winning the 100 backstroke in :57.80.
Men's
UB 57, Southern Utah 48
UB 63, Oral Roberts 75
The Bulls completed a season sweep of Mid-Continent Conference foe Southern Utah with a 57-48 win Jan. 28 in Alumni Arena. Rasaun Young led all scorers with 19 points-10 in the first half. On Jan. 31, Oral Roberts used a second-half run to defeat the Bulls, 75-63, in Tulsa, Okla. UB led by as many as seven points in the second half behind a game-high 23 points from Young, until the Golden Eagles went on a 19-0 run to take the lead with 3:36 remaining. UB Senior Matt Clemens added 14 points for UB.
UB 19, Kent State University 15
The Bulls improved to 4-5 for the year with an impressive 19-15 win at Kent State University on Jan. 31. The Bulls captured five of the first six bouts, highlighted by a win-by-fall at 134 pounds by sophomore Jacob Partlow. Senior 150-pounder John Stutzman continued his hot streak with his 10th win in his last 11 bouts, while freshman 158-pounder Vince DeAugustine won his fifth straight.
