The Bulls dropped a non-conference matchup with cross-town rival Canisius College on Dec. 2, losing 70-57 in Alumni Arena. Senior Rasaun Young led the Bulls with 13 points. Senior Matt Clemens added 11 points.

The Bulls are unbeaten in Mid-Continent Conference play. On Dec. 5, UB downed Northeastern Illinois, 70-59, behind 22 points from Young. Senior Mike Martinho added 11 points, while sophomore Jon Kleidon scored a season-high 10 points and six rebounds.

On Dec. 6, UB needed overtime to get past Chicago State, 90-83. Young scored 27 points, 21 in the second and overtime periods. Junior Robert Harris scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds,while Martinho added 16 points.

Women's

The Bulls gathered their first conference win of the season as they knocked off the Golden Eagles of Northeastern Illinois, 83-68, on Dec. 5. Buffalo was led by junior Catherine Jacob with 19 points and freshman Tiffany Bell, who added 15 points and 13 rebounds. The Bulls defeated Chicago State on Dec. 6 by a score of 78-48. Buffalo was led by senior center Lisette Prinzing with 15 points and five rebounds. Senior Latoya Crumpton and Jacob each contributed 12 points.

Wrestling

The Bulls finished 20th out of 41 teams last week at the 16th Annual Las Vegas Invitational. Senior 142-pounder Jeromy McVige upset fifth-ranked Jeff Bucher of Ohio State in the consolation semifinals enroute to a fourth-place finish. Freshman 126-pounder Chad Caros upset number-four seed Brandon Howe of Michigan in the consolations to finish eighth.

Swimming

Women's
The Bulls broke five school records enroute to a third-place finish out of eight teams this past weekend at the Eastern Michigan Invitational. Freshman Carol Cottingham set school records in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, while freshman Inger Rooneem set school records in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Cottingham and Rooneem teamed up with freshman Carrie Arm-strong and junior Lieselle Trinidad to set a school mark in the 200-medley relay.

Men's
UB finished fourth this past weekend at the Penn State Invitational at State College, Pa. Sophomore Dan Hickey finished first in the 200 freestyle in a school-record 1:39.50. He also finished third in the 100 freestyle, with a time of 46.06.

Indoor Track and Field

The UB men's and women's indoor track and field teams both finished second at Colgate on Dec. 6, behind Albany State, but ahead of Colgate and Canisius. Sophomore sisters Laura and Jen Folckemer finished one-two in the women's 5,000-meter run. Junior Shelly Hamilton captured the women's high jump and senior Ruth Conlon won the women's weight throw. On the men's side, junior Ryan Candia captured the 800-meter run, while freshman Eric Guitierrez captured the pole vault.
