The Bulls moved to 3-1 on the season with a pair of wins over Cornell on Nov. 24 and Niagara on Nov. 29.

UB posted a 71-65 victory over intrastate rival Cornell in Alumni Arena. Senior Rasaun Young led all players with 21 points as he hit on 8-of-14 shots (57.1 percent) for the game. Senior Mike Martinho added 17 points, while senior Matt Clemens had 13.

Although UB led by nine at the half, the Big Red stayed close throughout the game, closing the gap to 64-62 with 1:40 remaining, but could get no closer.

On Nov. 29, Young scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half as UB held off a Niagara rally late in the game for a 62-58 win in Marine Midland Arena. The Bulls overcame a poor second-half shooting performance to claim the win. UB has now won the last five meetings with Niagara.

The Bulls took a nine-point lead into halftime behind senior Mike Martinho's 11 first-half points. Young and senior Scott McMillin scored back-to-back treys with eight minutes remaining to cap a 12-3 Bulls run.

The second half saw UB go cold from the floor with only 2 of 22 shots. Leading by two points with 8.4 seconds remaining, freshman Nikolai Alexeev blocked a Niagara layup to preserve the win for UB.

The Bulls moved to 4-3 on the season with a recent pair of wins and losses.

On Nov. 25, UB shot 50 percent (17-of-34) from the floor to defeat Robert Morris, 91-53, in Alumni Arena. Junior Megan McCray led the way for the Bulls with 16 points, while senior Charissa Gardner scored 11. Freshman Sonia Ortega was an all-around threat for UB with 15 points, seven steals, six assists and four rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.

On Nov. 28, the Bulls scored a 75-67 win over Sam Houston State in the first round of the Central Florida Tournament in Orlando. UB faced a seven-point deficit at the half after shooting just 30 percent (9-of-30). However, the Bulls rebounded to hit on 14-of-28 shots (50 percent) in the second half for an eight-point win. Junior Catherine Jacob led all scorers with 14 points, while adding seven assists and six steals. Senior LaToya Crumpton scored 12 points, while McCray and junior Kim Coon each had 10.

Despite a career-high 15 points and 12 rebounds from freshman Tiffany Bell, UB was defeated, 63-60, by host Central Florida in Nov. 29's tournament semi-finals. The Bulls were unable to overcome their poor shooting, hitting on just 23 of their 65 shots (35.4 percent). Gardner had 15 points and four rebounds in the game.

UB's shooting woes continued on Nov. 30 in the consolation game of the UCF Tournament, with a 74-54 loss to Bowling Green. Jacob tied a career high with eight field goals as she led UB with 17 points, five assists and four steals.

Male and Female Athletes of the Week

Senior Rasaun Young scored 21 and 17 points in wins against Cornell on Nov. 24 and Niagara on Nov. 29, leading the Bulls to their 3-1 start to the season.

Freshman Tiffany Bell scored a career-high 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Bulls' loss to Central Florida in the UCF Tournament.
