  • Moving UB's medical school downtown will be truly transformative for both UB and Buffalo. For the first time, UB’s medical students will be immersed in a full-fledged medical environment—from taking classes to interacting with patients to participating in a state-of-the art medical research environment. Buffalo will be invigorated by thousands of new students, faculty and staff working downtown—many of whom will also choose to live downtown, creating a vibrant medical campus community.

  • As a faculty member practicing at Buffalo General Hospital, I am excited by the plans for a downtown campus. I am confident that this move will increase the communication and information exchange between the medical school faculty members and thereby foster greater collaboration between instructors, researchers and clinicians. This, in turn, will result in an even higher quality learning experience for students and residents.

  • I live in the Linwood Historic Preservation District, immediately adjacent to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, and serve on our street association. We have already opened a partnership with the campus to look into common interests, such as revitalizing the Main Street corridor. We look forward to continued growth on the Downtown Campus, since it will result in even more revitalization of that neighborhood and more investment in the surrounding city, including our own district, and welcome the presence of more medical professionals in the city. We already have several UB faculty and professionals living on our street, and hope to see many more. The houses are beautiful, and the prices are low!
