  • We went to the Elvis Costello & The Imposters concert at the Erie Canal Harbor Central Wharf and it was fabulous. A perfect June evening, a devoted crowd, a scenic setting and the amazing Elvis Costello and his Imposters, who delivered a killer show. Plus, one of Buffalo’s own treasures, Mark Norris, and his band, the Backpeddlers, played a solid warm-up set. What more could a rock fan want?

  • I don’t know if I have a favorite, but I really enjoyed the Hard Rock show in Niagara Falls last week. It reminded me of the vibe when Thursday in the Square started—as in not overcrowded and with more “cutting-edge” bands. I saw Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings (retro soul/funk). They were amazing.

  • The free Tuesday night Artpark Concert series is the best summer concert series this year. I have only been to one concert so far—Peter Frampton on July 5—but they have some pretty good concerts coming up. They have Cheap Trick on July 19, Lynyrd Skynrd on July 27, ZZ Top on August 2, Ted Nugent on Aug. 16 and George Thorogood on Aug. 23.

  • This year, the Erie Canal Harbor Concert Series has been amazing! So far I’ve seen Soulive with The Darkstar Orchestra and Elvis Costello & The Imposters. And I’m still looking forward to Flogging Molly at the end of July. The sound is great, the location on the water near the naval park is very cool and tickets are very cheap ($10 presale).

  • I’ve been out of the outdoor concert loop for a few years, having previously gone to Thursdays in the Square. I am thrilled that they are moving down to the waterfront, since the city of Buffalo has done such a great job of renovating down there. The concert series I have been attending the past two years is the CAS Summer Concert Series outside of the Student Union in July. It always draws a great crowd; a diverse mix of students, faculty, staff and the community! It’s wonderful to see everyone out in the sun dancing and enjoying themselves. When I walked outside for the show on Tuesday, it just felt like the definition of summer to me!
