Gifts to the university really do make a difference.

A new website devoted to giving to UB is full of stories about how generosity has improved the lives of students, faculty and staff throughout the university.

Visit the site to meet students who have benefited from donors’ support and why people are motivated to give to UB. The new site also makes it easier than ever for visitors to give to a school, fund or program.

The website serves as a timely resource for all virtual visitors to UB, with reports that online donations are on the rise. The Blackbaud Index of Online Giving this month reported that online giving increased by 8.7 percent for the three months ending November 2010, as compared to the same period in 2009. Blackbaud also found that 7.6 percent of total fundraising now comes from online giving. UB’s data confirms this trend, with more UB donors interested in making gifts online.

“We’ve seen an exponential increase in online donations at UB,” reports Ann Brown, senior director of development communications. “Our new website will allow UB alumni and friends to explore ways to give back.”

The website includes featured opportunities throughout the university for giving, a list of leadership giving societies and news about philanthropy at UB. University Communications designed the site within the framework of the UB Digital Communications Transformation initiative, formerly known as the Web Content Initiative. The UB in-house development team executed the design and Development Communications provided the content to create the site.

“A premier research university needs a premier level of investment from a broad base of supporters. Building private support will provide the university both added flexibility in program development and a marginal advantage in attracting top students and hiring top faculty,” says Scott Nostaja, senior vice president and chief operations officer. “This new website is just one of many initiatives we’re working on to promote investments in UB.”
