The sixth annual Celebration of Academic Excellence—UB’s annual celebration of its achievements in scholarship, research and creative activity—will be held April 1 in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

The event recognizes the university’s outstanding faculty and staff, while placing special emphasis on undergraduate excellence.

Poster presentations by undergraduate student investigators will be on view in the CFA atrium, beginning at 1 p.m.; exhibits by student artists also will be on display during that time in the ground-floor and first-floor galleries in the CFA.

A musical performance will begin at 3 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre, followed by the formal celebration ceremony at 3:30 p.m. with remarks by President John B. Simpson and Provost Satish K. Tripathi.

To be recognized at the ceremony will be UB’s newly named SUNY Distinguished Professors; the UB Exceptional Scholars; the Scholars of Excellence; and recipients of the Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence, the UB Teaching Innovation Awards, Sigma Xi Research Award, the Student Organization Award for Excellence in Academics and Service, the Clifford C. Furnas Scholar Athlete Award and the UB Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creativity.

A reception will follow the ceremony in the CFA atrium.
