Kah Kyung Cho, SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy, has been appointed by SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher to the SUNY Committee of Honorary Degree for a three-year term that began in fall 2009. The committee, which reviews nominations for SUNY honorary degrees, consists of the SUNY provost, the Board of Trustees and 10 faculty members selected from within the SUNY system.

Wolfgang Wölck, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in the Department of Linguistics, is serving as a Research Ambassador for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the 2009-10 academic year. The Research Ambassador Program honors 17 individuals who have conducted long-term research projects in Germany at the doctoral level or above. The ambassadors serve as liaisons in the U.S. and Canada for the DAAD, which is the German national agency that supports international academic cooperation and offers programs and funding for students, faculty and researchers.
