  • Kopperud added to ‘feast’

UB clarinetist Jean Kopperud has been added to the list of performers when “A Musical Feast” presents “A Tribute to Leo Smit” at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Peter & Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium in the new Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State College, 1300 Elmwood Ave.

Kopperud, associate professor in the Department of Music, will play the third movement, “Abyss of the Birds,” from Olivier Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time” (1941).

Kopperud replaces Charles Wetherbee, who is unable to perform due injury.

  • Dance ensemble to perform

The Department of Theatre and Dance will present Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble in "Gather 'Round...and Dance!" Dec. 3-6 in the Black Box Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

    Performances are at 8 p.m. Dec. 3-5 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.

In keeping with the diverse traditions of the company, the concert will include eclectic music ranging from John Hanks and Christian Orlo, to an original score by Drew Fornarola, as well as diverse themes ranging from the extraordinary to the sentimental: aliens and other life forms, women pirates, the role of individualism within a group and personal reality.

Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble is directed by Melanie Aceto; Joyce Miller Lichtenberger is associate director.

Tickets for "Gather 'Round...and Dance!" are $10 and may be obtained at the Center for the Arts box office and at all Ticketmaster locations, including Ticketmaster.com.
