UB named Amherst Business of the Year

UB has been named the “2009 Business of the Year” by the Amherst Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber has dedicated all of its 2009 Alpha Awards to UB in recognition of UB 2020. All award recipients are being honored “for their contributions and continued support of our region and for their unique connection to the University at Buffalo,” according to the chamber.

Award winners will be honored at the annual Business of the Year Awards dinner being held Oct. 26 in the Buffalo Niagara Marriott. President John B. Simpson will accept the university’s Business of the Year Award.

Other Alpha Award winners include Francis Letro and Cindy Abbott-Letro, Stewardship Award; M & T Bank, Community Service Award; L&D Johnson Plumbing and Heating, Entreprenuership Award; Dent Neurologic Institute, Health & Health Services Award; Paul J. Harder, Cliffstar, Commitment to Excellence Award; Hebeler Corp., Manufacturing Award; Conserval Systems, Technology Award; and Robert Smolinski and Claudia Fosket, the newly established UB Believers Award.
