The Center for the Arts has received another bronze Telly Award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking Web commercials, videos and films. The latest award—the CFA’s receipt of four bronze Telly awards was announced last month—is for the television program “Building UB, Growing Community: The Draft Plan” (information programming), produced for the Office of the President

Two members of the UB community are among 24 women who will receive Women of Influence Awards from Business First in recognition of their contributions to the community in 10 categories. Jane Griffin, research associate professor in the Department of Structural Biology, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and principal research scientist at Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Marilyn Stevens, assistant coordinator in the Department of Counseling, School and Educational Psychology, Graduate School of Education, will be honored as one of the “Behind the Scenes” women “who, though they may not have the big title or corner office, are a driving force behind the success of their employer.” The awards will be presented on Sept. 24.
